Naive consumer
Gordon Mclean, a father, a husband, a feminist, an old school blogger, a geek, a cyclist, and another Apple consumer yelling at multi-trillion-dollar company:
It's MY iPAD, let me delete stuff!
Dear Sir, becaue you paid for the iPad, it does not give you the permission to do whatever you wish on it. You can do what Apple allows you. For "geek" it should be obvious. You did not pay for the hardware. You pay for a privilege to run today, what Apple decided yesterday.
You buy Apple for convenience, status, and a polished UI. You wish, you complain, you want control. Apple ignores you, because people like you are statistically irrelevant. Apple's business model relies on absolute ecosystem control. You keep hoping Apple will change because admitting you bought into a gilded cage hurts your ego.
it's purely as a consumption device.
Exactly. It works as designed.
Ultimately I only need four apps on it.
Most people need just more money.
why the fuck can't I delete it?
Because the master did not allow you.
taking up 2.4GB of space. Why?

Bonus: Gordon's reaction to Olly's post.

Olly: "I don't fight the good fight on X"
Gordon's response:
No matter how else you wrap up the justification, if you are there as a casual user you are supporting it.
Logic "your're supporting it by using it" cuts both way. X or Apple.
Olly is another entertaining character who deserves an article of his own, but lately, he's been beaten up a lot for not being "woke enough".
