Links, URLs and garbage
Almost every website today use links. In bloated and ugly way. Domain name is long, link is longer than a spaghetti and all this is hidden behind the cool label.
SEO URLs, a relic of early 2000s search engine algorithms. People optimized their links for machines and made them terrible for humans. Then hide that junk behind the anchor text.
Standard URL on the internet looks something like this: https://longdomainname.com/blog/2026/09/09/how-i-fucked-up-links-on-my-website
If they link to this relic, they hide that mess behind some anchor text, so clearly visible is just some text as: "Links on my website".
Deep behind that clickable text is some verbose and ugly URL. It's not clear where the link is going. It may go to some page on the same site, to some other website, social media, paywall, eshop, corporate web or whatever. I often click something, that lands on some known broken website, some social media that requires account or some popular propaganda website. If the link is clearly visible, I would not visit that space.

For advanced, experienced and highly intelligent and smart internet professional like me the first version is clean, easy to navigate and read. I know where my click lands. Nothing is hidden, a rot is not perfumed. It is transparent and it respect visitor. There is enough space on the page to use two lines if needed. This approach of using short and clean paths, that are visible is objectively superior.
It may be not so pleasant to use sane links without an anchor text for external sources as most websites still use terribly long URLs optimized for something that does not exist anymore. Links then often occupy two lines. It's still better, than to hide it behind some "slogan".
