Defense mechanism activated in one reader. I got an email from Brennan ( https://brennan.day/ ) with the part:
But people are trying. They aspire to goodness and principles no matter how badly they perform. That means something. I'd much rather have a virtue-signalling hypocrite that misuses the word "Nazi" than a cynical misanthropic nihilist. Only one actually gives the world a chance, no matter how flawed.
He replaced the populist "Nazi" with the pseudo-intellectual "cynical misanthropic nihilist" label. The same function. It is a "thought-terminating cliche". He did not refute a single point in the article. Instead he categorized me. He used a cheap label to avoid engaging with the reality. He confirmed the point in the article by his own reply.
Intentions without action are just fantasies. Nothing runs on good intentions. Nature runs on actions.
A person who misuses "Nazi" to shut down discourse is not aspiring to goodness. He is engaging in tribal warfare.
